The Credit Card industry has not only been remoulded by regulation, but faced a moral turning point thanks to excessive unsecured consumer debt resulting in the 2008 recession. Lucinda Webster’s role made a big impact on the sale and positioning of UK Credit Cards at Barclaycard. But she first started her journey as a graduate new to the credit industry.

After 10 years, she joined the Barclaycard team to develop and manage a card positioned for new to credit customers, now known as the ‘Initial Credit Card’. Upon successfully running this product, she then took the responsibility of managing the sale of all Barclaycard products across our external channels. She now manages the sale of Barclaycard products on Barclays’ internal channels too.

Lucinda’s strong leadership and direction is an inspirational example of how women have shaped Barclays in their own way. As a mother to three children she shows that it is possible to have a healthy work-life balance, thanks to flexible working. Barclays recognises the importance of creating a conducive environment for mothers to not only do their job, but lead as well. This helps people like Lucinda and other female leaders across the business to reach their full potential, whilst maintaining their family life!
