We’re building tomorrow’s bank together
Help us build the bank of tomorrow
For the right person, a job at one of our contact centres in Sunderland or Liverpool could be a fantastic career choice. For a start, you’re one of the first points of contact for Barclays customers, which makes it challenging, interesting and rewarding work. Then there’s the variety. We may call ourselves a contact centre, but unlike in traditional contact centres we don’t just answer the phones. There’s texting, web chat and video chat plus all the other digital innovations on the horizon. Another big advantage is that our teams work shifts, so it should be possible for you to fit your job around all the other commitments in your life.
But perhaps the best thing about pursuing a career at one of our contact centres is the number of opportunities available to you in the longer term. For example, you could start in personal banking and move to premier banking or business banking, or even get promoted to a leader or support role.
To help you get a better idea where you could fit in, here is a quick guide to some of our key contact centre teams.
Taking inbound calls from our customers, our Personal Banking colleagues provide a very similar service to the one we offer in our branches. It could be anything from simply checking balances and confirming transactions to offering advice on travel insurance for holidays abroad. No call will ever be the same, and you need to be able to adapt according to each customer’s needs.
Here you could be answering the phone to anyone from a small family-owned hotel in Cumbria to the manager of a high-end jeweller on London’s King’s Road – and it’s this variety that keeps the job exciting. The advice you provide will help businesses flourish, as you offer customers solutions and services that suit their requirements.
Our premier bankers answer calls and help with requests from customers with £75,000+ annual incomes or with over £100,000 saved in their account. Like all of our customers, premier clients have high expectations and you’ll be expected to support them over the phone with a range of services, making sure they have the right products to get the most out of their banking experience.
Our range of opportunities
While the majority of our contact centre roles sit within one of these three teams, we do recruit into other areas and roles – and with all the training and support we offer the long-term opportunities for your career are practically endless.
